Happy New year to all our friends and customers.\u00a0 We hope you have a good year in 2017 –\u00a0 we ourselves hope to carry on the success the Somerville had in 2016.<\/p>\n

We certainly ended the last year well – in December we were awarded 10th place by Trivago in their Top Ten Boutique B&Bs in the country. Then we were later awarded 1st place in the South-West for being good value for money .<\/p>\n

Talking of value for money, we are now in the low season in Torquay. Don’t worry, there are still some great restaurants to visit, but more importantly we are offering our customers a special rate for January through to March .<\/p>\n

Our Deluxe rooms are available at \u00a380 per night inclusive of Breakfast and our suites are available at \u00a3100 per night (minimum of 2-night stay). As ever, there are a few dates omitted (10th-18th February) but other than that – book now to get these low rates!\u00a0 Important: please phone us to make the booking – that’s the only way to receive these discounted prices. (They’re not online.)<\/p>\n

If you are looking for a special evening while you’re here,\u00a0 perhaps book at The Elephant (One Michelin Star), who have guest chefs every month.\u00a0 Sadly, Elly Wentworth’s evening is sold out (yes, the runner-up in MasterChef)\u00a0 but check out their website for further events .<\/p>\n

All this talk of restaurants – how could I forget the fact that we are in healthy January!\u00a0 So it’s a great time to blow out the cobwebs and try some of the\u00a0 numerous fantastic walks along the coastal path, or to take a decent walk on Dartmoor with its winter bleakness.\u00a0 We even supply the dog for a walk!!<\/p>\n

Slightly less strenuous is the National Hunt racing at Exeter which has three meetings in January and February.\u00a0 It’s very easy to get to by car or by public transport.<\/p>\n

Here at home, we are quiet at the moment which gives us time to choose fixtures and fittings for our new suite, which should be ready beginning of March. We\u00a0 will be offering the room for a special price but only to those who are signed up to our mailing list, so sign-up and take advantage as this suite is going to be really fantastic!<\/p>\n

Lastly, I need to mention Valentine’s Day.\u00a0 (I know there are some romantics amongst you …) So if you are intending booking into the Somerville while you’re marking the day, don’t forget to ask me to book a restaurant or I can send you my own personal recommendations of tea shops , restaurants and pubs.\u00a0 And if you book for two nights over Valentine’s (between 13th-16th February) we will delighted to include a bottle of Prosecco in your room – all iced-up!<\/p>\n

Now thinking about it, I have forgotten to mention Easter … which is really not that far away and we already have bookings …<\/p>\n
