Gardening Against The Odds<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the paltry single mm of rain we received on The English Riviera in June, it\u2019s no surprise that the grass is looking decidedly dead. But, as ever, the Torquay Parks Gardeners have kept the flower beds looking amazing. They are doing a good job in tricky conditions.<\/p>\n

\"Gardening<\/p>\n

And, say it ourselves, our own gardens are looking great too. They have been a real oasis for our guests after a day sightseeing. Coming back and chilling out on the terrace before going out to enjoy one of the plethora of good restaurants in Torquay helps make for an excellent day. (And, of course, you can rely on us to recommend good places to eat.)<\/p>\n

Something Deliciously Different<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trying to differentiate yourselves in a busy marketplace takes a care and thought. Aside from everything else that makes us a five star B&B, Helen\u2019s imaginative breakfast offerings are always enjoyed by both our British and our overseas guests. A good breakfast starts the day off well.<\/p>\n

As well as some locally sourced cheeses from Sharpham\u2019s Cheese in Totnes, from further afield one called \u2018Cornish Jack\u2019, in the Emmenthal style from Port Isaac, has been an excellent new find for us. <\/p>\n

We regularly change the cheeses during the summer months \u2013 as cheese addicts, doing the tastings isn\u2019t a hardship.<\/p>\n

Local Sights<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were out walking (as ever) in Shaldon last week and came across two of the most adorable nine month old St Bernard\u2019s \u2013 they were incredibly inquisitive and I hope the photo shows just how lovely they were. Added to that, below are a couple of photos from the same walk \u2013 of a great pub, The Ferry Boat Inn, and of the view across to Teignmouth. Of course, if you don\u2019t want to walk across the Shaldon Bridge then you can take the little ferryboat for \u00a32 – a bargain!<\/p>\n
