Well, here we are at the end of the season and we are just a few days away from flying off to Thailand for a few weeks of sunshine.<\/p>\n

The sun will make a welcome change as it’s been a rather soggy autumn. But that said, it’s been very mild and Brits are resilient to the weather! We hope everyone who have stayed with us over September \/October enjoyed the many sights of South Devon, regardless of the rain.<\/p>\n

Talking Of Rain<\/h2>\n

A few weeks ago I (Peter) took on the \u201cTour de Moor\u201d – my second time doing this enduro mountain bike ride over the top of Dartmoor.<\/p>\n

I can tell you that last year’s 40 mile trek over the bogs was a breeze compare to this year’s! I don’t mind saying it was a complete nightmare of a ride. Three weeks of heavy rain made the terrain very very muddy. On the morning of the ride there was more heavy rain and a driving wind. We’re talking five hours of absolute misery. Seeing two riders been assisted by Mountain Rescue at the top of Princetown as hypothermia had set in was rather unnerving! <\/p>\n

I was ably assisted by my brother, nephew and a friend and, at least, the sun came out and the rain stopped about an hour from the finish, and so we did manage to take in some of the fantastic views of Dartmoor. And in total all the riders with sponsorship raised \u00a330,000 for St Luke\u2019s Hospice in Plymouth. It might have been, probably, the toughest ride I’ve ever done – but it was for a fantastic cause.<\/p>\n

Some More Sedate Leisure<\/h2>\n

We have been to a couple of shows at the Princes Theatre here in Torquay recently: Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and a Queen tribute band. The latter, particularly, was absolutely outstanding – and there was a well deserved full house. <\/p>\n

Looking ahead, in January we have the very talented Rock and Roll legend that is Joe Brown coming on the 26th,. On the 19th February we have the amazing Ranulph Fiennes at the theatre, speaking about his epic stories as an explorer. Those are two that caught our eye – check out the Princess Theatre website for details and plenty of other shows: <\/p>\n

Other than theatre, we have had for the first time here in Torquay a company called Wavelength doing their thing. And ‘their thing’ can only be described as a light show, with an amazing display being shone onto the cliffs, Torre Abbey and surrounding area, along with some weird sound effects. It was a real boost for a November weekend.<\/p>\n

Winter! Romance!<\/h2>\n
