Well, pretty much as expected, we are all in lockdown again. As has been widely reported, all aspects of hospitality have been hit hard. And that’s especially down here in the South West, where tourism is the Number One industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the bottom line is that we have to look forward to the future and, hopefully, a much more fruitful 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In The Meantime<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, we are not sitting on our laurels. If we can’t have guests then at least we can start work on the refurbishment of Room 3, the Courtyard Suite and Room 7, the Torwood Suite. And we can do it knowing we’re not going to disturb any guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pics you see, below, are the rooms cleared ready for the decorators. We’ll keep you updated as and when the rooms are finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I write this we are only 30-something days away from Christmas Day. Yikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Can Forget ‘Keeping Fit’<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We know, there’s plenty of talk about the need to keep fit and yes, we know it’s true that keeping fit makes sense. But the beauty of visiting this part of Devon is that the scenery is wonderful – so going for a walk can be an immense pleasure, however keen or otherwise you are on exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coast path, in particular, offers some real treats. Below are two photos to temp you. One is the Dartmouth Estuary. The other is Sugary Cove, to be found on the other side of the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuel For The Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our breakfasts are award-winning and Helen is always trying out new dishes for the breakfast menu. Here are two pictures of some recently tested Irish soda bread, made with Smoked Salmon and Chives. It tastes great and will help fuel you for the whole day. Lovely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staycation Options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, no-one can be sure of anything on the lockdown front (!), but hopefully we will be opening on 28th<\/sup> December as planned. Torquay is a busy place for New Year’s Eve and at the time of writing we only have two rooms left for the holiday period – so contact us ASAP if you’re keen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re not going to be with us for New Year’s, bear in mind that we are planning to be open ‘as normal’ in January. If you fancy a short staycation, you know where we are. Instead of feeling cooped up in the four walls of your house, you can be looking out onto Torquay Marina and our wonderful Bay. And you can eat some wonderful fish from the numerous restaurants open all year round too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
