Well, I hope it’s not too cold where you are. Here on the coast we can see why they call it the ‘English Riviera’, as we are having a very bright and mild start to the year.
We were up on Berry Head in nearby Brixham last weekend and it was truly sensational up there – with every man and his dog taking in the views. A wildlife photographer was up on the cliff edge and pointed out a school of dolphins, which is always a pleasure to see. Sadly, the camera I keep in my pocket wasn’t a match for the enormous zoom lens he had! It’s worth visiting even if all you want to do is sit at the excellent coffee shop up there and take in the magnificent views of the Bay from its highest point.
I know I give the impression that I spend an awful lot of my time on the coastal path. But really, honestly, Helen and I are very busy at present, trying to arrange everything for the new suite here. The conversion of the two existing rooms to one will start on the 20th February and there’s a lot to do before then.
I must emphasise, we will be closed for 10 days as the builders move in to take out the old and replace with the new . Customers will be wholly unaware of the work!
We are very excited about it all but don’t just take my word for what we’re doing. Once it’s all done, you’ll just have to come and stay and find out for yourself.
Before all that, we do have availability over the Valentines week. If a romantic stay on the English Riviera appeals, do phone us directly for the best rates … and you never know: I might upgrade you to one of our beautiful suites, complete with roll top baths and TVs in the wall to watch whilst you soak.
If you’re not feeling romantic but you fancy a break with us in February and would like some entertainment while you’re here – all is not lost! Torquay’s Princess Theatre has a Neil Diamond tribute singer on the 10th February and AbbaMania on the 18th. The theatre is just a short walk from here – and there are plenty of places to eat between here and there.
Looking further ahead, the dates for the Torbay Air Show were recently announced, and this year it will be the 3rd and 4th June. If you are a lover of all things aviation, we have natural viewing points all around here, looking over the bay. Watching the Red Arrows and the Avro Lancaster bomber is a sight to behold as they fly over the sea – and watching it
can be free!
See you soon.
