Summer
Well, we’ve enjoyed an ‘interesting summer’ this year! As the children broke up from school in July, so the weather changed to very average, and it stayed like that for most of August. Then the Bank Holiday arrived and we enjoyed truly amazing weather, breaking records for the warm temperature. The bay was completely full accommodation-wise, and the English Riviera really looked amazing with the beaches and bars full up with people enjoying themselves.
I always like to carry my camera with me when I’m walking with Coco the dog, so below are a couple of photos I’ve taken over the past month. You can see Thatcher’s Rock from Ilsham Marine Drive (with all the million pound houses ), which is just a short walk from The Somerville. A little further away, on the walk from Preston to Goodrington Sands you get the wonderful sight of our local steam train.
(For the third picture – no, it’s not on the summer theme, but I also wanted to show you our new lamp, bought for the Meadfoot Suite. We thought it was very Royal Ascot! If you stay with us in that suite, do let us know what think …)
Celebrations
Apart from looking back at summer, I would like to wish my best friend, my wife, a very happy 50th birthday this coming weekend! (The 8th September.) Helen spends an awful lot of her time in the tucked out of sight in the kitchen either cooking breakfast, baking bread or making cakes – her real passion. I always seem to get the praise being ‘out front’ with the customers , but Helen is a real grafter when it comes to work and making The Somerville what it is. I am a very lucky boy!
And Finally …
Just to mention, we have a special offer on our suites for Oct/Nov. If you wish to take me up on it, please phone me (01803 294755) for details, mentioning you’ve read about the offer in the blog. Here’s to an enjoyable Autumn.
