We recently received our annual visit from ‘Visit England’. That’s essentially a visit from The Hotel Inspector, and it is always a scary proposition, even when you think you are on top of things! Of course, in reality they are there to assist and advise, plus it’s always handy to have another set of eyes look over your business, not least because they visit so many.
Anyway, after the visit we received fantastic news: not only have we retained our Five Star rating, but we have also received a Gold Award for our accommodation. And this is to go alongside the Gold Award we received for our Outstanding Breakfasts last year.
To receive a Gold Award you must receive a minimum score of 93% in cleanliness, hospitality and quality of bedrooms and bathrooms from the Inspector after his/her visit, plus confirmation from the Area Manager. We are very proud to receive this recognition.
Looking Ahead
We always like to keep guests informed of goings-on at the Princess Theatre here in Torquay and the coming year is starting to look good. Events that have caught our eye include –
- An evening with Aggers and Tuffers on 15th February for the cricket fans.
- For opera fans on the 16-17th February we have La Traviata and Madame Butterfly on consecutive nights.
- What’s more, Evita is on for a week from the 13th March – though sadly without Elaine Page.
We always have offers always available ‘out of season’ so do, please, phone for the best rates – 01803 294755.
As the year ends, shortly we will pause and take a break (not least, to celebrate Peter’s 50th birthday). We re-open on 27th December.
We should add that we are already fully booked over the New Year period. If you fancy a few days away in the winter weeks, do book soon as soon as you can: we hate disappointing guests!
We hope to see you in 2018!
Peter and Helen
