Well, we are in the height of the peak holiday season and Torquay has been very busy – helped, of course, by the exceptional weather.
We here down in the South West didn’t receive the temperatures in the mid 30s which some of you had in July. But we are very happy with it being around about 25C, and with a sea breeze too. This is perfect for our guests (and for me on the golf course).
By the way, if you are ever interested at playing Torquay golf club I am a member and would be delighted to take you round.
Bargain Day Tripping
At this time of year we don’t go very far from home, but taking the Western Lady ferry across to Brixham and then enjoying a walk up to Berry Head is one of our favourite afternoons out. And, at a mere £3.50 return, please advise me of a better value way to spend my time!
It’s just 40 minutes across the bay to Brixham and if the captain sees any sea life he will stop the engines – for dolphins or seals in particular. The boat leaves from the harbour every 30 minutes from 10 am until 5.45 pm.
Summer Garden
As well as day trips, over summer we do spend a lot of our time in our garden here. It’s quite extensive – especially for a small bed and breakfast. It’s always very pleasing to be complimented on the array of flowers showing throughout the summer. From our wonderful alliums out the front to our agapanthus in the top garden, our guests can return from their days out to relax on the terrace.

Also in August, we have a fantastic show coming up at Torquay’s Princess Theatre. ‘Putting on the Ritz’ with music and dance from George Gershwin and Cole Porter is on Tuesday 27th August.
