An Enjoyable Autumn
Well, the children are back to school this week and we have certainly noticed a change in the clientele.
We have had a magnificent summer here on the English Riviera and, unlike some of the more humid central parts of the UK, we’ve had the luxury of a sea breeze. The resulting slightly cooler temperatures have been great during the hotter nights.
Now it’s on with what’s looking to be a very enjoyable autumn. It’s still very pleasant weather, and there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
Eat Well Locally
Perhaps the most notable culinary event of September/October is the Seafood Festival in the Bay. Numerous restaurants are doing all things fishy and there are some great offers. This link has full details – Seafood Festival.
In the meantime, this weekend we have the wonderful festival, Fishstock, which takes place on the 8th September. This is definitely worth a visit with bands all day, demonstrations of preparing and cooking fish, stalls and the local boats selling off their catch of the day for charity. In fact last year I bought three kilos of local mussels for a fiver … bargain!

Eating Well – With A View
We have a great relationship with the local No 7 fish bistro and they are always fully booked. (If you’d like to try it yourself, do ask us to see if we can book for you, well in advance of your stay.) We dine there regularly and enjoy some of their fine wines in the wine bar upstairs, which comes with fantastic views over the marina.
With A Bang!
We marked the end of the Torbay Regatta with the fantastic firework display on the Monday night. In our experience, this is always a well-staged spectacle. If you’re at all partial to a good firework, plan your next August bank holiday to include being here to see it!
The Bigger View
We regularly suggest guests go to nearby Berry Head to take in the panoramic view of the Bay, so we thought to include a couple of shots from the spot, just to demonstrate just why we recommend it. A great view and fresh sea air. Glorious.
